Re: dog and hamster
It may be that she doesn't like the hamster in a cage? It's been a couple of weeks since you posted. How is the behaviour now?

Re: Sheltie and the Cat
If this is a new onset behaviour, I would suggest having your Sheltie assessed by your vet. There may be a medical reason for this. Other than giving treats separately, I would try giving a treat at the same time for both. With my kitten and my three Shelties, the kitten's food is up on the dryer be...

Re: Do shelties go well with german shepherd s?
You're welcome. A couple of others recommended the one in Georgetown and one of the breeders did recommend McCanns. Don't let what happened to one trainer's dog and how they handled it put you off the school. The Sheltie was being dog-sat and escaped (Hamilton way).
I'll pm you the group name.

Re: Do shelties go well with german shepherd s?
McCann's does have great reviews and I am sure is a good school. Just talk to them. It was probably just the way it was handled - not well at all.
There is one in Milton - Campaign.
By the way, if you are on facebook, I am part of a terrific group of sheltie lovers that live in Ontario only.

Re: Do shelties go well with german shepherd s?
I am not too sure about McCanns. I know one of the trainers lost a Sheltie in September and there has been a lot of controversy about the search for it. I would do my research. I never had a chance to put mine into training because of home circumstances, but I have a cousin who has a GSD (from anoth...

Re: Do shelties go well with german shepherd s?
They should do well, but a caution regarding the GSD. Make sure you get the pup into a good obedience school or with a good trainer. This is imperative with GSDs.
