Bite my 18 month old

Postby lisahess » Mon Jun 19, 2017 7:19 pm

hello fellow sheltie owners!

I am hoping that you can help. My 8 yr old sheltie - Mia! I got Mia at 7 weeks old when i was single, 2 yrs ago i got married and we had a baby shortly therafter. I was worried initally as she is not great around kids and (super protective of me) however we brought our baby home and she was amazing, Mia was gentle and instantly used to sit by her crib...so sweet. Out of the blue she snapped at our todler and bite her, i was so shocked. The scenario was, i was holding Mia and calling my little one over to hug the dog. It has not happened again..any advice or wisdom?

Hi Lisa

That must have been upsetting for all of you :( While I am no expert, and someone else may have some better advice..... I wonder if it was because Mia had all your attention, and then felt threatened at that moment by the little one? You say it hasn't happened since, so maybe it was just a one off...

Warm regards

Antoinette and My Mia :)
