This story in The New York Times a week mentioned that inflation has plunged the value of Venezuela's money to half the dollar, effectively decreasing minimal wage earnings to $5 per month.
"I'm Venezuelan and I am deeply hurt by studying some of the remarks in this thread. I've been part of this community because old-school came out and have never seen so much hate and racism," composed Redditor glow_party (in a remark moved into the top of the ribbon by moderators).
"Allow me to tell you something, these individuals are doing whatever they can to survive and they have never done something wrong," glow_party proceeded . "As a Venezuelan I can tell you that the hate towards my folks is miserable and something I never expected to come from this area."
Still another user pointed out that an earlier strategy, killing the manager known as Zulrah, was netting a person $5 a day until Runescape publisher Jagex nerfed exactly what Zulrah dropped in response.
The more considerate anti-Venezuelan comments pointed out that gold farming was contrary to the Runescape principles (punishable by account bans) and some wrote off the manual as a joke. But few found it a laughing matter, especially since it assumed that anybody from Venezuela from the match was a gold farmer, getting them killed in PvP despite not doing anything wrong.
